This drive along the Ho Chi Minh trail is like you imagined Vietnam to be: rice fields bordered by coconut and banana trees and the almighty jungle! Most of the drive is through mountainous Ethnic lands, until you reach the South China sea coast towards the end of the journey.
Day 1: Drive through coffee plantations and see traditional way of local people to Lak Lake, the biggest (and possible most beautiful) lake in Vietnam. Stop at worm farm and chopstick factory on your way.
Accommodation is in a choice of traditional. Rong house or modern bungalow right on the shore of Lak Lake, so that you enjoy the breathtaking scenery and watch the ethnic minority fishermen checking their nets. Keep in touch with the minority people (M’Nong people) do trekking in the afternoon seeing another village.
Day 2: Visit the local market, you’ll understand more about the culture on exchange the goods. Elephant riding is available. Drive through more picturesque landscape and minority villages to Buon Ma Thuot, where you can sample and buy the best coffee in Vietnam. Go to Draysap waterfalls and Vigrin waterfalls.
Day 3: Drive on Ho Chi Minh trail through Pleiku infamous because of the fierce fighting that took place between Vietnamese and American forces. Stop on your way at Sea Lake. Spend the night in Kon Tum, where you can visit the wooden church, Bana village, 290m suspension bridge and Kon Tum prison.
Day 4: This is the "jewel of the crown" as you spend the day driving across the mountain and through the jungle. The sheer beauty of the landscape combined with the great atmosphere of the jungle will send shivers down your spine, see and compare many kinds of minority villages along the Ho Chi Minh trail. Stop for a big former battle field. Spend the night in the middle of Ho Chi Minh trail - Phuoc Son town.
Day 5: Before we drive down the coast to the old village of Hoi An, we still keep going on Ho Chi Minh trail visit the tobacco farm, hit into the real local people life-style on the countryside of the middle of Vietnam. Stop at the ancient Cham tower site on your way, before relax on the beach or go for a swim in Hoi An.
